Take part in the Euclid member working group

9 March 2010

Euclid Network (EN) is a network. And the power and effectiveness of that network lies within its members.

Without members, EN ceases to have legitimacy or purpose which is why it is essential that members are at the heart of everything that we do.

Members automatically have access to the contacts, expertise and knowledge of the network, as well as the standard member benefits

However, the ‘EN experience' varies greatly amongst members. Some members are particularly active and through EN have been introduced to various opportunities. Others engage less and so primarily use EN as a source of information and continue the ‘European connection'. Other members join for entirely different and diverse reasons.

Current situation

Like with most other membership organisations during the recession, membership is a challenge for EN. However, membership has continued to remain at around 300 leaders, with membership covering 25 countries.

Reason for a working group

The aim of the group is to support EN in improving its membership offering to retain current members and get new members. As with any network, a larger and stronger network will benefit all of its members.

The group will also give insights to help us overcome current challenges of membership such as:

  • Diverse third sector across Europe
  • Different needs of Leaders across Europe
  • Ensuring that EN is meeting our members expectations, delivering on our promises and ensuring that EN remains a network that brings genuine added value for all members

As well as regular member feedback on EN's work

About the group

EN is looking for a core group of 7-10 members who are committed to ‘meeting' regularly and help EN improve and grow its membership.

The group will meet through a conference call, with the first meeting to take place at the end of April.

The remit and terms of reference of the group will be decided by the group itself.

However, the group is likely to cover:

  • Expectations of new members
  • Current member benefits
  • Future member benefits
  • Member communication

Who are we looking for?

We are looking to have a group that represents the diversity of the network itself.

The group will represent members from each of the regions in which we have members:

  • Western Europe
  • Northern Europe
  • Central and Eastern Europe
  • Western Balkans

As well as the three countries in which EN has its largest numbers of members:

  • UK
  • France
  • Italy

Anyone can express interest in being part of the working group:

  • New/old members
  • Large/small organisations
  • Charities/Social enterprises/Cooperatives/Mutuals

Members who have yet to engage with the network are particularly encouraged to apply.

Once selected, the group will remain clear and transparent in its discussions and decisions. All minutes of the meetings will be available online so that members can comment and make suggestions. Members who are not part of the group but who would like to be involved, will also be invited to attend.

Commitment

The group will meet via conference call and will keep in touch either via email or a Google group

The group will establish its own terms of reference although it is likely that the group will meet every 3-4 months.

Next steps

Send an expression of interest to Jenna Collins

If you have any questions or ideas, please do not hesitate to contact me on +44 (0)20 7280 4987

In order to have a first group meeting in April, ideally the group will be selected by 31st March
