Good governance

Aim

To Identify a shared framework for governance across Europe and develop tools to improve its quality

Why governance?

Good governance is not only an area of shared interest amongst its members, but is crucial for Euclid Network (EN) to develop its own goals to facilitate knowledge sharing between leaders across borders for a more professional and innovative sector.

Activities

  • Establishment of a working group for good governance peer-review, launched in Paris, December 2008
  • Working on a European project looking at shared principles across Europe in partnership with One World Trust, CJDES, European Centre for Non-profit Law and ICSA
  • Developing a publication to compare governance in several European countries in partnership with ACEVO
  • Looking at potential European code, standards and certification in the long-term

First Good Governance conference, December 2008

The first conference on good governance was hosted in Paris 2007 to gather members and other interested stakeholders, facilitate knowledge sharing and plan joint actions.

Emerging from this conference:

  • a good governance working group of active members who have been developing the good governance programme
  • Euclid Network invited to several high-profile conferences to speak on governance
  • A paper written by members of the working group has been presented at two academic conferences
