Overview

The research project has two main aims:

  • To understand the dynamics of innovation that links design and emergence.
  • To design a set of processes, enabled by new ICT, which can help to mobilize civil society towards a socially sustainable future.

These processes will assist the managers of online networks of innovators to strengthen relationships among their members; monitor innovation cascades; and help them steer the resulting cascades of change in socially positive directions. An important feature of the project is the range of stakeholders involved – connecting academic theory and practical experiences.

Euclid Network's role

Euclid Network will work to design and implement a process for mobilzing civil society to monitor these emergent innovation cascades. This will be used a part of the development of innovation policies which aim to help steer these cascades in socially positive directions.

Euclid Network's will:

Help coordinate the project, specifically in leading on Work Package 5, where active learning seminars will be used to recruit participants and help these participants in the preparation of case studies for the project.

The first of these active learning seminars will be held in Bilbao and aims to discover the potential online gaming can have in fostering civic engagement.

During the first year of the project Euclid Network will coordinate a steering commitee which will consist of the recruited participants, this committee will carry out the design of processes which can help mobilize civil society in positive ways. It's first role will be in selecting a suitable innovation area to research and construct a prototype of the design

Help unify the narrative of civil society organisations (CSOs) and networks of CSOs around social innovation through the use of ICT.

Assist in the development of a strategy (mainly web-based) for engaging with social innovators, policy-makers, researchers and the general public in an open, collaborative approach, to validate and gain insight beyond the project and the partners, and use this strategy to design and maintain the project website and social media channels.
