European Commission, DG Enterprise and Industry:

Duration

March 2011 - March 2013

Overview

Social Innovation Europe is a project initiated by the European Commission and lead by SIX - the Social Innovation eXchange. It maps out existing initiatives of social innovation across Europe.

The main objective of this tender is to establish "a pilot action for a Social Innovation Initiative for Europe". The pilot Social Innovation Initiative will network ongoing and new policies and programmes in the field of social innovation at EU level, in Member States, regions and municipalities, and link these with activities in civil society, including social entrepreneurs, the third sector, and the social economy. The pilot action will buy in the services of a core consortium of social innovators and create a highly interactive web based networking/resource hub.

Outputs

The outputs will support awareness and capacity building for social innovation at local, regional, national and European levels. The work of this project will contribute to developing public policy measures in the near future (3-5 years) and longer, possibly until 2020.
